Wix Mandates Full Office Week for Employees in Several Countries

Website building platform Wix has announced it is ending remote work arrangements and requiring employees to return to the office five days per week.

The policy change was communicated in an internal email from company President Nir Zohar on January 7, 2026, which he also shared publicly on LinkedIn and X. In the message, Zohar explained that Wix is “moving to a full office work week” starting February 1, 2026, to allow time for campus and site operations teams to prepare.

Location Specific

The mandate applies to staff in Israel (including offices in Tel Aviv and Beersheba), Poland (Kraków), and Lithuania (Vilnius), affecting approximately 3,000 employees in Israel alone, with the company employing over 5,000 people globally. Employees in Ukraine will continue to work remotely “from wherever is safest,” while U.S. employees and certain other global teams, including customer care, will remain hybrid or receive tailored guidance from local leadership.

Remote vs In-Person

Zohar highlighted the value of in-person collaboration, stating that “we’ve always done our best work side by side, learning, building, and tackling hard problems as a team.” He pointed to the “unique energy in the office, the quick chats, the unplanned ideas, [and] the feeling of being around each other” as factors that accelerate problem-solving, creativity, and connection.

The announcement ties the decision to the rapid changes in the tech industry driven by AI, with Zohar noting, “We’re in a moment where our industry is being reshaped by AI. We need to move fast, continue our growth and the best way is to do this together.”

While implementing a full office requirement, Zohar emphasized that flexibility for personal needs remains, based on “trust, clarity, and people’s needs.” He indicated that managers would handle accommodations case-by-case for situations such as family emergencies, long commutes, health issues, or other personal circumstances, describing it as “real flexibility for real life.”

The move follows Wix’s earlier adoption of hybrid work during the COVID-19 pandemic and a delay in returning to full office presence after opening its Tel Aviv campus in 2023.

This policy aligns with broader trends in the tech sector, where some companies have mandated increased in-office time, though approaches vary by region and company. Employee reactions shared on platforms like LinkedIn have included concerns about work-life balance, commuting challenges in Israel, and potential impacts on retention.
