Citigroup plans to keep its hybrid work schedule to allow employees to work from home part of the week.
CEO Jane Fraser believes it will give the company a competitive advantage in recruiting, and retaining, employees. Fraser disclosed her views to directors in a recent meeting.
Citigroup employs over 200,000 people, and the hybrid schedule will apply to the majority of its workforce. Employees will be able to continue working remotely up to two days a week.
Fraser also seems to be focusing on work-life balance. She wrote in a 2021 memo, “When our work regularly spills over into nights, very early mornings and weekends, it can prevent us from recharging fully, and that isn’t good for you nor, ultimately, for Citi.”
Citigroup’s commitment to hybrid work stands in contrast to other Wall Street banks, like JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs, who have been pushing return to office policies for the past few years.
According to her bio, Fraser “has launched a multi-year strategy to transform, simplify and modernize the bank for the digital age.”
