In a recent survey by Pew Research, about half of the remote workers surveyed said they would leave their current jobs if no longer allowed to work from home.
The survey found that 75% of people who have a job that can be done remotely, do so at least part of the time. 46% of these workers said they would be unlikely to stay in their current roles if not allowed to work from home.
Some demographics were more likely to leave their current jobs than others. Women were 6% more likely than men at 49% to 43%. 50% of workers under the age of 50 said they would look for a new job, vs just 35% of workers over 50. Additionally, 61% of people who currently work remotely said they would be likely to seek a new job if forced to return to the office.
The survey also found in increase in the frequency of hybrid work, and an increased desire for hybrid work from people “who rarely or never work from home.”
