Slovenia to Launch Digital Nomad Visa in November 2025

Slovenia is set to welcome remote workers from around the globe with the launch of its new digital nomad visa on November 21, 2025, according to a recent announcement reported by Euronews.
This one-year permit will allow non-EU and non-EEA nationals to live and work in the picturesque Central European country while employed by foreign companies or clients. The visa is designed for remote workers, including employees of companies based outside Slovenia, as well as freelancers and self-employed individuals who provide services exclusively to clients abroad.
Applicants will need to demonstrate sufficient income to support themselves, though the specific threshold has not yet been disclosed. Required documents may include payslips, work contracts, or bank statements to verify financial stability. Applications can be submitted online, or at a Slovenian consulate or embassy.
The visa is valid for 12 months and is non-renewable. Visa holders would need to leave Slovenia for at least six months before reapplying. Family members can join visa holders but are also prohibited from working for Slovenian employers.
Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana, is emerging as a hub for digital nomads with its growing number of co-working spaces. Other cities like Maribor, Celje, Kranj, and Koper offer quieter settings with family-friendly amenities. The country’s affordable cost of living, compared to neighbors like Italy and Austria, adds to its appeal for remote workers seeking a balance of work and lifestyle.
This marks Slovenia’s first official visa pathway for digital nomads, aligning it with other European nations embracing remote work trends. Authorities aim to attract talent and boost long-term tourism through this initiative. For more details, interested applicants can check Slovenia’s official government website or contact a Slovenian consulate.
