Automakers join the return to office trend

Two top automakers decided to order all employees back to the office.
Nissan and Stellantis are both telling their employees to return to the office, at least for most of the week.
Stellantis expects workers to be in the office three to five days a week. Nissan wants its workers in the office at least four days a week.
As reported in the Detroit Free Press, a Stellantis representative stated, “As we accelerate our transformation, we recognize the value of consistent on-site presence and see it as a key enabler to win in the marketplace. Many of our teams are already working onsite 3-5 days a week as we maintain a flexible work environment. Today’s announcement is confirmation that bringing teams together to build stronger connections is a competitive necessity.”
The RTO mandate will affect about 3,000 workers, and begins March 3.
Stellantis manufactures several brands of cars and trucks including Dodge, Jeep, Fiat, and Ram.
Nissan’s return to office directive comes amid the company’s recent struggles. Makoto Uchida, Nissan’s new CEO, believes this change will result in more sales.
