Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health is reportedly planning to encourage citizens to temporarily work from home to combat hazardous air pollution.
While Bangkok recorded the highest levels of PM2.5 dust pollution, the issue is widespread across the country. Originally, only Bangkok was considering a temporary work from home policy. However, due to the current levels of pollution and its potential health effects, Thailand’s government is considering making it a country-wide policy.
In addition to temporary remote work, officials plan to designate “low-emmision zones” and enact temporary school closures.
The plan to combat the current rise in air pollution are scheduled to be presented next week.
